One individual lost their life and another sustained serious injury after a fall of approximately 1,000 feet down a steep slope at Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska on Thursday night.
The National Park Service stated that the two climbers were ascending the 8,400-foot Mount Johnson, which overlooks the Ruth Gorge and is frequented by mountaineers, when they fell on a technical route characterized by a combination of steep rock, ice, and snow.
