Now at about 5 months old, Shuri a retriever/terrier mix, has come back into Animal Friend's care due to her adopter getting a new job where they are out of town too often to take care of her. They had good things to say about Shuri's behavior including that she is housebroken (besides some happy piddling), crate trained, loves to play with toys, and does well with children!
In her adoptive home she was not living with other animals, but she has returned to her former foster home and is having a BLAST playing with the dog in the home. Shuri has a ton of puppy energy and is still learning to listen to doggie communication so she would still do best with an energetic and playful dog, as well as adopters who will give the other animals in the home a break if her puppy energy becomes too much. In her foster home she has been reintroduced to the cat and is curious, but has been overall respectful of the cat's boundaries. Shuri loves all kinds of toys and it's hilarious to watch her play; you can find her chewing on a nylabone to tossing stuffed animals up into the air, and also enjoys a good game of fetch!
Besides an initial few accident, Shuri has shown herself to be potty trained and will go over to the back door when she needs to go out. And after just a minute or two of protesting, Shuri settled down and slept through the whole night in her crate! She is a very smart, loving, and food-motivated pup who is going to be a fantastic family member for those willing to put in the love and training!

On Saturday, April 8th come to Memorial Park in Uptown Oxford from 12pm - 2pm to meet your new furry best friend, or donate pet supplies to animals in need! We pinky promise that it'll be a good time! Animal Friends will be onsite with their PetMobile of adoptable dogs and cats! Those attending are encouraged to bring a donation to benefit animals in need including Dog/Cat food, treats, collars/leashes, toys, potty pads, and more! Monetary donations are also accepted and will go directly to the care of AFHS's animals!
