Derrick Fells says it was a shot he was proud of, having to use his non-dominant left hand to kill an adult alligator in the backyard of his vacation home in Michigan. The Detroit man says the six-foot long gator lunged at him, and he knew he had to take the shot knowing about 30 kids will be coming to the home next weekend for a family reunion. The alligator came from a neighbor's exotic pet refuge, where the owner didn't realize one of his gators had gotten out. The Tuscola County Sheriff's Department says Fells won't face any charges. Derrick Fells says with a family reunion coming up at his vacation home in Tuscola County that will include 30 kids, he knew instantly he had to kill an alligator that turned up in his backyard.
