Woman Charged for Leaving Baby in Hot Car

( Florence, Kentucky ) - Police say a woman is facing charges for leaving her baby in a hot car on Wednesday.

Officers were called to Lot B of the Florence Mall just after 2 o'clock on reports that a child had been left unattended in a vehicle. When they arrived, they say a group of people were gathered around an SUV with the windows slightly open and a sleeping baby inside.

Police say as they tried to get into the vehicle, the mother returned to the vehicle and unlocked it. The child allegedly had red cheeks and was sweating, but did not need medical attention. Police say that the child had been left in the vehicle for ten to fifteen minutes, and, according to Mall Security, it was 105 degrees inside the vehicle.

29-Year-Old Christina Krups of Newport was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.

That incident happened about the same time as the Warren County Prosecutor was announcing that a mother whose baby died after being left in a hot car last month would not be charged.
