Djiby Fall's header in the 63rd minute was the game winner as FC Cincinnati downs the MLS Columbus Crew 1-0 in front of 30,160 fans at Nippert Stadium in the US Open Cup.
The goal allowed FC Cincinnati to achieve the single biggest victory in team history. The win over Ohio's only current MLS team, combined with the third best attended match in FC Cincinnati history, should send a message in the ongoing MLS expansion race.
Cincinnati goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrant also made key saves to keep Columbus off the scoreboard in the first half. He finished with many more.
FC Cincinnati returns to USL action Saturday with a home match versus Charleston Battery.
