Jets rally to stun Bengals

Jets 39 Bengals 38

The Jets rallied from four different deficits of at least 14 points to stun the Bengals and win their first game. Running back Breece Hall tossed the winning TD with 1:54 left.

The Bengals (3-5) led 10-0, 17-3, 24-10, 31-16 and then 38-24 with 10:21 left.

The Jets won on the road without Sauce Gardner, without their best offensive player Garrett Wilson, and amid a week of QB chaos created by their owner.

If we are being fair and honest, somebody would be fired in just about every NFL city. Without question, the worst loss of the Zac Taylor era.

The defense was well past embarrassing:

502 yards, 254 rushing, 248 passing.

7.2 yards per play.

Allowed TD on all three 4th quarter drives, points on final four drives, and 7 of 8 drives to end the game.

Imagine being the de facto GM that built this defense.

Defense:

How can an NFL team be this poor at something as basic as tackling?

0 sacks. No pass rush, again. Blitzed some.

2 red zone holds to FG.

1st Jets 1st half TD in 7 games. 15-yd TD pass. Battled pulled up on blitz?

CTB tackle 1st D snap of game. 2 penalties. Good 3rd D pressure forced FG.

Opening drive: Trey 3rd & 1 stop, Carter 4th & 1 pitch stop.

Trey cheap shot injury to his back end half. Did not return.

Carter missed tackle/Battle poor angle allowed Jets 50 yard run.

Offense: 398 yards, 181 rushing, 217 passing. No turnovers.

TD: Flacco, Higgins, 2 Brown, Perine

Flacco: 21-34, 2 TD pass, TD run. 1 sack.

1-yard TD keeper/his 1st rush TD ‘17 (per Jay Morrison)

3rd & 12 13-yard run.

Sacked late 4th. Shoulder injured. To locker room. No missed time.

Returned for final drive.

Brown: 12-73. TD rush, TD catch. 7-yard carry 1st play. 22-yarder.

Redirected a failed flea-flicker into an 11-yard run

Perine: 9-54. Run, block, catch. 32-yard TD run. SP teams tackle.

Chase: 12-91

Higgins: 44-yard TD. Only catch.

8th straight home game TD… T-Pete Johnson/Carl Pickens franchise record.

Fant: 3-41
