The trade: BJ Hill/Billy Price, August 30, 2021

The Bengals acquired defensive tackle B.J. Hill from the Giants in exchange for center Billy Price. The trade was made just ahead of cut down day

Price had been selected 21st overall in 2018. The Bengals had target center Frank Ragnow at that spot, but he was nabbed by Detroit one pick earlier. Price made 10 starts as a rookie. But just eight the next year….and one in 2020....losing his job to Trey Hopkins.

The 29-year old Hill was a 3rd round pick of the Giants in 2018. He was caught in a numbers game of defensive line depth in New York.

After appearing in 16 games with two starts in his first season in Cincinnati, he was rewarded with a three-year, $30 million contract in March of the following year.

His career moment came in the 2022 AFC Championship game when he tipped a pass from Patrick Mahomes and caught it at the Chiefs 30 yard-line. The Bengals turned it into a TD and eventually won in OT to clinch a trip to the Super Bowl.

Now in his 4th year with Bengals, Hill has appeared in 53 games, making 39 starts with 185 tackles, 13 sacks, 2 INT.

The 29-year old Price appeared in 27 games over three seasons following the trade.

2021 Giants (16 games)

2022 Cardinals (11 games)

2023 Signed with Las Vegas. Practice squad with Saints, Cowboys

He retired in May of this year, the result of health issues from blood clots.
