Reds roll behind Stephenson and Martinez

Tyler Stephenson tied a career high with five RBI and Nick Martinez continued on his roll, firing six innings of two-hit, shutout ball. 

Reds now 75-80 and MLB best 33-18 in series openers. The 33 wins ties 1999 Reds for most in franchise history. It was the Reds 5th sellout of the season. 

Offense: Four runs in the 4th. Battered Mitch Keller for 7 runs in 3.1 innings. 

Stephenson: 3 H, 2B, HR, 5 RBI. That’s 19 HR and 64 RBI, both career highs. Per Bally’s, his 405.1 innings caught since the All-Star break leads MLB. 

India: 2 H, HR (15), BB 

Benson: BB, R, SB (15) in just his 4th September start. Threw out a runner at home. 

Elly: H, BB, 2 R, SB (65). Joins Vince Coleman and Rickey Henderson as only players since 1900 w/ 100 SB in first two seasons. 2 K, now 206, break franchise record held by Drew Stubbs (2011). 

Martinez: 6 IN, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K.  Four September starts: 2 ER in 24.2 IN, 0.73 ERA.
