Pirates 7 Reds 0
It was a good old-fashioned pitchers’ duel between Nick Lodolo and Paul Skenes. That is until Lodolo and the Reds came unglued in a six run 5th, all after two were out, that broke up a scoreless game.
It's the 11th time the Reds have been shutout...the 28th times scoring less than 2 runs.
The Reds are now 17-37 in their last 54 games at PNC Park. How is that even possible?
Lodolo: 4.2 IN, 2 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 2 HBP, 9 K, 94 pitches. Didn’t allow a hit until 2 out in 4th. 8 K thru 4. Completely lost control in a 29 pitch 5th: Had 2 out and 1 on (BB No. 7 hitter/.199)…then 2 HBP, BB (No. 9 hitter/.195), 1B, 2 R that ended night. Never seems good at damage control. 17th HBP/2nd MLB to Greene.
ERA last nine starts: 7.54.
Pirates rookie Paul Skenes: 6 IN, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K, 87 pitches. ERA 2.16. Faced one over the minimum.
Bullpen
Junis entered in 5th and allowed 3 inherited runners to score, plus one of own. Then a HR in 6th. He ain't it.
Offense: 5 H, 2 BB, 13 K
Elly H, BB
Amed Rosario 1B in debut
Dominci Smith: 0 for 3, 3 K in debut
Noelvi Marte: H, SB. Botched a basic rundown in the 5th.
Luke Maile: 0 for last 25
Home plate umpire Larry Vanover had one of the worst games I can ever recall….for both teams.
How they scored:
Scored? Scored?
