Offense: 12 H, 1 BB, 11 K. Kyle Freeland: 6.2 IN, 2 R. Entered w/ 6.62 ERA, but just 3 runs over 3 starts since coming off IL.
Let me get this straight. Down 4 in 7th. Tyler Stephenson, a catcher, doubles. He’s going to be in scoring position w/ no outs. JR House waves him for a triple? Out. That’s not aggressive. That’s just plain stupid. They wound up scoring 1 run, not 2, and Elly was left on deck.
Stephenson: HR, 2B. Homers in B-B games. Cut down a would-be base stealer.
Noelvi Marte: 3 H, R, 2B at 107.2 mph, 1B at 109.1 and 1B at 101 mph. 1st multi-hit game since his 3-hit season debut.
Jonathan India: Frozen rope HR 415-feet to CF
Hinds: 1 for 4, RBI 1B, SB, 2 K. Lots of non-fastballs. His first single in 6 hits.
Montas: 7 IN, 8 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 101 pitches/65 strikes. Needed his innings after 3.2/rain by Lodolo Tuesday night.
June 4th vs Rockies: 7 IN, 1 H, 0 R at Coors. Tied a season high w/ 5 runs. Had allowed 5 in his previous 3 starts. 1-2-3 1st/10 pitches. Three run 3rd. No. 9 hitter Sam Hilliard homered off him twice. He'd hit 5 in his previous 292 plate appearances since 2022. B-B 2 HR starts for Montas.
Bullpen: Brent Suter gave up three hits and a big run in the 8th. That's six runs in his last seven appearances.
Austin Slater: Single in Reds debut. Lost bloop single in the sun in CF. Got a bad jump/bobbled the pickup of all triple over his head.
How they scored:
3rd: India HR (7), 3-1 Rockies
7th: Hinds RBI 1B, 5-2 Rockies
9th: Stephenson HR, 6-3 Rockies
9th: Espinal RBI 1B, 6-4 Rockies
9th: India sac fly, 6-5 Rockies
