Andrew Abbott tossed a shutout into the 7th. Noevli Marte and Stuart Fairchild played longball. The bullpen held off the Yankees late for a series win. The Reds led 3-0 into the 7th before the Yankees struck for two runs.
It was a stand and pace type of 9th inning after Alexis Diaz walked the leadoff batter in a 10 pitch at-bat. But he bounced back with a DP and then a fly out of Juan Soto to end it.
It’s their first series win since June 6-9 vs Cubs. Their first time winning back-to-back games in 17 games (June 12-14). That's back to back one run wins.
Home plate umpire Jim Wolf will not want to see his game report card. Man.
The Reds have not trailed in the series. They will go for the series sweep Thursday afternoon. Reds starting pitchers have limited the Yankees to one extra base hit over 11.1 innings in the series.

Got Aaron Judge to hit into a 5-4-3 DP to escape further damage and preserve the lead. 0.1 IN, H, 2 BB, R, 13 pitches/5 strikes.
8th: Sims walked leadoff batter. Left w/ 2 on, 2 out.
8th: Wilson came on w/ 2 on, 2 out, K Grisham on 3 pitches.
9th: Diaz 10 pitch BB after getting ahead 0-2 to the leadoff batter. Got Volpe to roll into DP. Soto FO.
