Things that popped into my head this week.....

Shorter version this week. My apologies. I've been under the weather all week.

I could not sleep one night this week. I got up at 3:30AM. Fixed a peanut butter and potato chip sandwich with a glass of milk. Then I watched Planes, Trains & Automobiles. It was pretty damn satisfying.

Ever find out years later that a song was not performed by the person you always thought? I assumed Alone Again (1971) was John Lennon/The Beatles. It was actually Gilbert O'Sullivan. Took it to No. 1 for six weeks in 1971. No way. Great song.
You can feel it, right? The Joey Votto big contract/injury treatment that fans are now applying to Joe Burrow. Sadly. Predictable.

Over the last 8-10 days, I believe I've experienced a sampler platter of symptoms from multiple viruses going around. It's been the oddest thing. From difficulty breathing to a right eye that won't stop watering.

Kelly would tell you one of my most annoying habits would be leaving kleenex in my jeans pocket, only to have them disintegrate in the dryer.

The Bengals are not benching, cutting, trading Joe Burrow.....or pitting him vs Jake Browning in a QB camp battle next year. Just stop. Have people just run out of things to talk about?

I wonder how much interest Mick Cronin would have in returning to resurrecting a bottomed-out UL program?

One of my favorite TV cops shows as a kid was Baretta. I loved the cap Robert Blake wore. Sammy Davis Jr. sang the theme song.....'Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time...yeaaaaa"...

Wes Miller seems like a great talker and a strong recruiter. And the Big 12 transition and NCAA silliness with Bandaogo and Reynolds have been legit potholes. But I'm still left wanting/needing more from him.

Most unstoppable move in sports history? The Sky Hook by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

I can't imagine being a college coach and having my livelihood decided by the whims of 17-18 year olds I'm trying to recruit...especially in the NIL era.

DJ Reader is 30 and in the final year of his contract. Has he played his last game with the Bengals?

My sidewalk edge has been burrowed up this week. Is that a mole? Does he never just rest and give me a break?

Kelly revealed to me this week "I don't get Elvis...or the fascination"......after 31 years of a relationship she drops that on me?

I find the athlete/team being 'disrespected' storyline to be boring. I don't understand admitting you are that worried about what others think of you.

For the record, I picked Huntley to win The Voice from his very first performance.

I miss the pitter-patter sound of feet as Casey and Peyton ran down the hall Christmas morning to get us up to open presents.

Alarm fog: At least once a week my alarm goes off and I sit up in bed and wonder why I'm up and what day it is.

Longnecks has already decided to sponsor our Roundtable Show again next season! We love rotating around to their three locations!

Wes Miller's record at UC is 1-6 combined vs XU/UD/OSU/NKU and 1-11 combined vs the 1st/2nd place teams in the American. But he was 20-2 vs The Citadel and 17-4 vs Samford while at UNC Greensboro.

Give me a smaller number of menu choices at a restaurant over a multitude of choices any day. You can only do so many dishes well.

Peyton didn't get a traditional Thanksgiving when she was in the Netherlands, so we promised her one for Christmas!

I want to see Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard play in person. Bummed I missed his only appearance in Columbus this year, back in November.

A go-back-and-watch TV recommendation: Nip/Tuck. A 2003 series about longtime friends who run a cutting-edge plastic surgery center in Miami. Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon). But brace yourself.

Peyton flies into Chicago from the Netherlands Saturday morning. We will be traveling back home during the Bengals game. I have scheduled a Facebook post for you to leave your comments and reaction following the game.

Don't worry about things you don't care about.
