Bengals 34 Jaguars 31 (OT)
I’ll be damned. They won. 34-31 OT.
The Bengals went on the road, rallied from a TD deficit three times……overcome 3rd quarter disaster…..took a lead with 2:28 left in regulation….got forced to OT by a game tying 40-FG w/ :30 left….and then won on a McPherson 38 yard FG with 1:45 left in overtime.
That's a pretty ballsy win.
The Bengals snap a three game skid and move to 6-6 on the season, one game back of the Indianapolis Colts for the final playoff spot. The Colts come to Paycor on Sunday.
Jake Browning dazzled: 32-37-354 yards, TD pass, TD run. QB rating 115.5. He marched them 12 plays in OT for the game-winning FG. He started 10 of 10 and was 17-19-167 in 1st half. Dan Hoard in 1st half: “Is this Jake Burrow or Jake Browning?”Nice 25-yard throw on the run to Irwin. He had a 21 run scamper on 3rd & 1 with 4:00 left. He did take a 4th & 3 sack on the opening drive at the Jax 43.
End of regulation: Tied 28-28, Evan McPherson booted a 54-yard FG with 2:28 left in the game to give the Bengals a 31-28 lead. But Jaguars backup QB C.J. Beathard, on for an injured Trevor Lawrence, engineered a 9 play/54 yard drive for a game-tying 40-yard FG with :30 left in regulation to force overtime.
OT: The Bengals defense forced a Jacksonville punt. Then, Browning hit Ja’Marr Chase for a juggling 17 yard catch to near midfield. Tee Higgins had a sweet/huge 3rd & 10 sideline catch in OT. McPherson booted the winner with 1:45 remaining. The drive was 12 plays/42 yards in 3:17.
Down and out: Lawrence was sacked by Trey Hendrickson and injured with 5:25 left in the game. He threw his helmet in frustration and was carted off the field.
Offense:
Yards: 491……335 passing, 156 rushing.
233 1st half vs Jaguars …….222 for game vs Steelers
Circle the sequence: The Bengals went from leading 21-14 to trailing 28-21 in a 2:20 span in the 3rd quarter. Dax Hill had a back of the end zone softball/INT go through his hands for a Parker Washington TD. On the very next offensive play, Tyler Boyd threw an inexplicable INT on a double pass gadget play. Bad play call with a red-hot QB. Awful decision by a veteran WR. Jacksonville scored four plays later.
Run game: 31 rushes for 156 yards……14-67 1st half
Joe Mixon: 19-68 (3.6), 2 rush TD. 18 yard run. 6 catches/49 yards, 28 yard screen
Chase Brown: 9-61….5-29 1st QT. Runs of 8, 15 and 31 (longest by Bengal this season).
Ja’Marr Chase: 11 catches on 12 targets for 149 yards, including a 76 yard TD catch/run. He had 5 catches in the 1st QT.
Heeeeee’s back: Tee Higgins returned with 3 catches for 36 yards.
Clutch: Trailing 28-21, the Bengals started at the Jaguars 48 with 14:42 left in the game. Facing 3rd & 3 at Jaguars 10, Chase dropped a 1st down pass. Browning went right back to Chase 4th & 3 for the conversion. Browning then kept for a 1-yard TD to tie the game.
Mixed bag: Zac Taylor was creative and mixed things up….under center, bootleg, OL Cody Ford split out, Chase lined up in the backfield, Chase threw a pass to Browning, Boyd threw an INT.
Scoring drives:
8 play/92 yard TD drive. Browning 4-5-80 ...w/ 3 completions of 17+ yards (Irwin-Hudson-Chase). 5 first downs. Mixon TD… 7-7.

Bengals break nine game losing streak on MNF….and 15 games skid on the road in primetime.
A Jacksonville attendant came on the field and cost the Jaguars a timeout with 7:30 left in the game. Never seen that. Never knew that.
