Things that popped into my head this week.....

What an ominous feeling now for this Bengals season.

Some Reds fans need to look at Jonathan India as a player and not some lucky rabbit's foot.

I often think about what my dear friend Norm Van Lier use to say to me: People are going to see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

Did you ever have the game BAS-KET  Real Basketball in Miniature Game by Cadaco? A ping pong ball rolled on an uneven mini basketball court and when it settled into a hole on the floor you pulled a lever to flip a shot attempt.

Give me a sausage biscuit and a sunny side up egg for dipping and I'm good to go. But I need ketchup on the sausage biscuit.

15 years ago this weekend my heart stopped for 60-seconds. I had a pacemaker implanted. Shout out to my original St. Elizabeth Cardiologists Dr. Sheldon Brownstein and Dr. Stuart Steinberg. I received a new pacemaker five years ago. The app on my phone that monitors my device says I'll need a replacement in about nine years. However, I firmly believe the roller coaster of Cincinnati sports will shorten that battery life.

I find it odd how some people wait in the weeds and seem so excited to criticize the Bengals by using yellowed and wrinkled talking points from years ago.

Other than sports, the only things I watch live when I'm home would be the 6pm & 11pm local news, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and Saturday Night Live.

I don't believe in outdoor holiday home decorations. Kelly does. Oh, she really does.

It's sad to see former UC president and current Michigan president Santo Ono sell his soul for the football program.

Great line in Tim McGraw's "Standing Room Only": Stop judging my life by my possessions. Start thinking 'bout how many headlights will be in my procession.

I'm a convert: I've gone from raking and bagging leaves to mowing leaves.

Al Michaels is a legend that used to have great feel and command of a game. But he sounds like he's mailing it in on Thursday night games.

When I post and indicate "Per" or "From" that is a credit to where the information is coming from. It's not my idea, thought or opinion.

An emailer asked me about this: What if Zac Taylor used AI for his gameplan?

Luke Fickell has lost back to back games to Indiana and a Ben Bryant led Northwestern team. Yikes.

Voodoo Brewing (8th Street) was brewery No. 58 visited within 50 miles of home. They have an excellent beer board above the bar and nice flight trays. I'd recommend the Banana Hammock and White Magik.

For as little as people seem to like to read, I'd think Twitter would be perfect. And you get to choose who you read. I'm @ lancemcalister. We have about 88,000 people in our group. Follow along!

Big props to former UC QB Zach Collaros. The 35-year old makes CFL history on Sunday when he starts a 4th straight Grey Cup (Super Bowl). His Winnipeg Bombs take on the Montreal Alouettes. He has 184 career TD's, 28,599 passing yards, 3x Grey Cup titles and two CFL most outstanding player awards. He is bound for the CFL HOF.

I'm the type that plays a game to try and round off my gas fill-up total to an even dollar amount.

Still hard to believe in this day and age we have people carrying chains and markers across the field and guessing where the football should be place to try and measure for a first down.

I get the NCAA deciding the two time transfer policy needs to be tweaked. I don't get penalizing two Bearcats when many other players have been granted eligibility. It would seem more fair to declare new guidelines AFTER all pending cases are closed.

My 'Spidey Sense' is the ability to look at a product at the grocery store and automatically decide if that's a worthy price. This despite having never studied the cost of something like everything bagels.

I still don't get why the Bengals waited so long to incorporate more Tanner Hudson at TE.

My TV news director in South Bend tried to convince me to leave sports and get into news. He needed a news reporter and he told me there would always be more job opportunities in news. I just couldn't do it.

A channel called Antenna TV shows reruns of The Tonight Show at 10pm weeknights. I was flipping around the other night and Johnny Carson had 96 year old George Burns on. Unbelievable TV.

Beyond Ja'Marr Chase, the Bengals don't have much skill position speed.

If you have read this far, THANK YOU!

I can't stress this enough: Don't worry about things you don't care about.
