Reds lose final game, finish 82-80

And so it ends.

The Reds put two on in the 9th inning after a one out double by Noelvi Marte and a Will Benson single. But Nick Senzel struck out and Stuart Fairchild to end the game.

The Reds finish the season 82-80 and MLB best 20 win improvement from last season. Going for 100 losses to a winning season.

For starters: Nick Martini lead off the game with a HR.

Hunter Greene: 5 IN, 9 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K.

He gone: Joey Votto was ejected in what may very well be the final game of his career. It was his15th career ejection.

On and on: Marte extended his hit streak to 16 games with a single in his final at-bat. That's the longest by a Reds rookie since Benny Zientara's
16-game hitting streak in 1948. His on base streak reached 22 games.

One last time: 42-year old pitcher Adam Wainwright pinch-hit in the 8th for his final appearance before retirement. He struck out. He got a standing ovation.
He had homered on the 1st pitch of his MLB career in 2006.
