Things that popped into my head this week.....

I think Nick Krall made a great trade this week. He was able to flip Luke Weaver for Hunter Greene. Rumors indicate Krall is not done.

I made my monthly trip through the McDonald's drive-thru to get a Coke. It's just different.

The poor play of the Bengals backup QBs has to be detrimental to what this team has been able to get done and what coaches have been able to evaluate....on both sides of the ball. I'd assume Joe Burrow returns the week of the 28th and gets two weeks to ramp up. They have work to do.

I was kind of OK with Peyton leaving for The Netherlands until Kelly texted me a photo of her walking away and towards check-in at O'Hare on Thursday. Man. Gut punch.137 days and counting until her return.
The more I listen to the national media talk about our local teams the less I listen to the national media talk about our local teams.

As someone that spent 6+ years anchoring/reporting/hosting on TV, I have off the charts respect for Joe Danneman and Jeremy Rauch of Fox 19. What they cover, the video they shoot themselves, is remarkable. Their Friday HS football show, The Final Quarter, is a work of art.

Weekend tip: Fifth and Vine Live Saturday night. It's free music on Fountain Square. Soul Pocket was excellent last week.
They had the crowd doing the Electric Slide. Great people watching spot.

I really thought Jackson Carman had turned a corner with how he played filling in late last season. It feels like he made a U-turn.

Does anyone ever get a pen that really works when signing a dinner check and adding the tip?

My skill set as a kid included the ability to slide my fork under the gooey stuff on top of a sunny side up egg and remove it, without breaking the yoke. Then I'd dip my toast or biscuit.

I'm in charge of watering Kelly's plants on the front and back porch while she's in Chicago for five days. Good luck to those plants.

Can this Reds team catch a collective second wind for the final 40 games? Not sure. Hope so. But at 48-74 a year ago, there was no hope for a second wind.

The Charlie Goldsmith story on Tyler Stephenson is a good reminder that players are human and not robots. Excellent read in the Enquirer.

Shout out to listener Mike and wife Shannon. We met them at March First on Fountain Square Saturday night. We traded band recommendations for 20 minutes!

Peter Gabriel singing 'In Your Eyes' is simply masterful.

H.S. football is back! I never got to sit in the stands for a Carmel HS game. I was always broadcasting the games for WHJE, the school station.

Chances of Nick Senzel being with Reds in 2024? Zero. Damn shame it didn't work, for whatever reasons.

I had to take a voice class at Butler and sing. I'll never forget the song 'Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind". And I'll never forget my professor saying to me, "You have a lovely voice, but you can't sing."
Props to the Bengals beat writers at training camp every day. Watching is certainly not digging ditches. But it's very tedious.
In many cases the team practices at the furthest spot away from where the media can stand and where fans can see.

Remember when the Reds would play on the West Coast and your morning Enquirer had a small note "The Reds led the Giants 2-1 in the 7th inning, when the Enquirer went to press"?

Again. Can somebody please pressure wash the logos on the Bengals practice bubble? It's an eyesore as you cross the bridge.

I don't miss putting on makeup for TV. Wait, what? Yea, I had to do my own when anchoring the sports. Foundation, powder, etc. I had no idea what I was doing.

It's odd that David Bell and Joey Votto get so much more respect and appreciation outside of Cincinnati than inside of Cincinnati.

I still enjoy reading boxscores.

For all his 'struggles', Elly's current 162 game pace is 27 homers, 11 triples, 51 stolen bases, 119 runs scored.

We really enjoyed the local band White Lighter at The Redmoor as part of Mt. Lookout Music Fest. They are an Alternative Rock band from Cincinnati. Their 'You Don't Have To Go' and 'Excuse Me Love' are killer songs.

Don't worry about things you don't care about.
