Reds 9 Astros 7 (10)

Well, that was another wild one.

The Reds rallied from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game in the 6th inning and took the lead on a Jonathan India solo homer in the 8th inning. They watched the Astros tie the game in the bottom of the 9th and almost win it. But the Reds scored three times in the 10th inning and hung on to win 9-7. Alex Young finished it off for his first ML save.

That's eight straight wins for the first time since 2012 and a sweep of the three game series in Houston. It was also their 23rd comeback win.

Leading 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th, Ian Gibaut, with Alexis Diaz unavailable, allowed the Astros to tie the game and almost win it.

An around the horn inning ending double play saved the game for the Reds and forced extra innings. India was shaken up on the play. He stayed in the game until he was hit by a pitch in the 10th and was pinch run for.

The Reds scored three runs in the 10th when Nick Senzel scored on a throwing error, Elly De La Cruz singled in a run and Jake Fraley's groundout produced a run.

The Reds complete the three city road trip 8-1. Per Elias Sports, it’s only the second time the Reds won 8 games on a road trip of 9 games or fewer (8-0, 1964).

The Astros were swept for the first time this season. The Reds stand 37-35 on the season. They remain a half game out of 1st place after the Brewers rallied to beat the Pirates.

Team: Seven different Reds collected hits, six players scored.

Welcome back: Fraley’s very first swing off the IL was a HR. He had 2 H, 3 RBI, BB, R.

Captain America: India homered for the second straight day and fourth time on the road trip.

Will Benson had another BB, SB, R. His 3rd inning walk was the 6th consecutive plate appearance in which he reached base.

Spencer Steer: HR, BB, 2 RBI, R.

Elly: 2 for 5….K, GO, infield single, K, RBI 1B. He hit a one hop smash behind 1B and beat Astros 1B Jose Abreu to the bag with a headfirst dive. His 10th inning RBI 1B came on the 9th pitch of the AB.

Luke Weaver: 5 IN, 10 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA 6.47. The Astros hit him hard…slamming six balls at 100+ mph off the bat in the first two innings. He allowed four doubles, a triple and a homer on the day.

Bullpen: Daniel Duarte 2.0 IN…..Lucas Sims 1.0 IN, Ian Gibaut 1.0 IN, 1 R, 7th win, Alex Young, Save

What on earth? Benson dove and missed a ball in right that rolled to the wall for an Alex Bregman triple. Jonathan India airmailed the relay off the dugout camera well and Bregman came all the way around to score. Later, Fraley fell down attempting to field a ball in the left field corner and Kyle Tucker scored from 1st. Kevin Newman had a throwing error.

See ya Monday?

Joey Votto exited the Louisville Bats game after two innings on Sunday. In an Instagram message, he thanked his teammates there, along with his surgeons and rehab team for getting him to this point. Concluding with: “My time in Louisville has been excellent...I can't wait to get back to Cincinnati. I miss you all and I will see you soon."
