Rays 8 Reds 0

25-year old Levi Stoudt made his MLB debut Wednesday afternoon at GABP. He got a rude welcome from the Rays. Leadoff hitter Yandy Diaz clocked his third pitch of the game 388 feet and out. Stoudt would give up 6 runs on 7 hits, including two doubles and a HR in a 35 pitch first inning. He did settle down to pitch four innings, but the Rays went on to hammer the Reds 8-0 to take the three-game series. The Reds were outscored 18-0 over the final two games.

Stoudt's line: 4 IN, 9 H, 7 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 84 pitches/56 strikes. Give him credit in that he shook off the 1st inning to then work three more innings, while allowing one more run. Expect him to be sent back to Louisville when Luke Weaver comes off the IL to start Thursday. Stoudt was up to buy Hunter Greene an extra day of recovery from his leg injury.

No O: The Reds have been shutout in back to back game and have scored in the last 19 innings. Their last run game in the 8th inning Monday night.

Reds last five games: W 13-0, L 14-3, W 8-1, L 10-, L 8-0.

Per Joel Luckhaupt: Either the Reds or their opponent has scored 8 runs in each of the last 6 games the Reds have played. That's the team's longest streak since a 6-game streak in April, 2006.

Welcome back: Lucas Sims made his first regular season appearance since May 10 of last season. 1 IN, 0 R, BB.....13 pitches.

Bullpen blues: 19.1 bullpen innings last four games 6.0, 6.0, 3.1, 4.0. That is just begging for trouble.

In relief: Sims 1.0, Cruz 1.0, R, Sanmartin 1.0, Law 1.0

Position player: For the second day in a row the Reds turned to a position player in the 9th, with Jason Vosler making his 2nd appearance in four days.

I don't get it: Why the hell is it so hard for Jose Barrero to catch a baseball? He couldn't catch an on the money throw from Luke Maile who was attempting to throw out a runner.

Intent: The Rays acted like they wanted some for three straight days, throwing at Reds hitters, including two that Pete Fairbanks buzzed the tower of Stuart Fairchild with in the 9th. David Bell was ejected in the 9th inning.

Time of game 2:25

Attendance 10,205

Next: Reds head to Pittsburgh for a four game series vs the Pirates. Luke Weaver comes off the IL to make his season/Reds debut.
