Rays 10 Reds 0

Nick Lodolo struggled with his location early and often and the Reds never recovered as the Rays evened the series with a 10-0 shellacking of the Reds Tuesday night at GABP. Lodolo was roughed up for 8 runs in 4.2 innings and the Reds offense was stifled by rookie Taj Bradley and two Rays relievers to the tune of just four hits.

Lodolo: 4.2 IN, 12 H, 8 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 3 HR, 3 HBP, 101 pitches, 59 strikes. The Rays clobbered three homers and Lodolo hit three batters inside the first four innings. Taylor Walls ripped a solo shot (1st of 2 on the night) and Yandy Diaz a three-run blast to give the Rays a 4-0 2nd inning lead. Randy Arozarena blasted a solo shot to make it 8-0 by the 4th inning. His ERA jumped from 2.12 to 4.98.

Bullpen: Casey Legumina 2.1 IN, HR, 27 pitches......Will his reward be Louisville? Will the Reds will need another fresh arm? Alexis Diaz pitched for the first time in five days. He struck out the side in the 8th.

Position player alert: For the second time in three days the Reds turned to a position player to pitch. Luke Maile pitched the 9th, 1 IN, 3 H, R.

Walls-papering GABP: Walls entered the game with one home run, and three RBI. He had 3 H, 2 HR, 4 RBI Tuesday night.

All or nothing: Saturday-Reds beat Phillies 13-0, Sunday-Phillies beat Reds 14-3, Monday-Reds beat Rays 8-1, Tuesday-Reds lost to Rays 10-0.

Defensive disaster: Kevin Newman saw a ball roll under his glove for a.......hit? Stop it. Make the play. There was poor execution on a relay that advanced a runner. I have no idea what's happened to the defense at SS, between Newman and Barrero. 3B Nick Senzel had a ball take a bad bounce past him into short left field. Senzel stood there as Newman raced to pick it up for a play at 3B. Senzel wasn't there. Per SIS Baseball, the Reds began the week ranked last in MLB in converting grounders and bunts into outs. Wil Myers did make two more nice plays at 1B.

Nice job, rook: Ray top pitching prospect, Taj Bradley..5.1 IN, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K.....84 pitches/55 strikes...in his 2nd ML start. Per ESPN, his 16 strikeouts are the most in Rays history in a pitcher's first two career starts.

Power boost: The Rays hit four homers and have now hit at least one long ball in all 18 games to start the season. The ML record is 20 by the 2019 Mariners.

Fraley fade: Since reaching base four times in a game last week, he's 1 for his last 18. He did walk.

Drought: Jason Vosler 0-4, now 3 for his last 35 since his last home run.

Still searching: Tyler Stephenson remains without a home run. He's hit just 7 over his last 300+ AB since late 2021.

Nice game: Curt Casali 2 of Reds 4 hits and threw out a runner stealing.

Attendance: 11,304

Time of game 2:25

Next: Wednesday, 12:35, Levi Stoudt makes his ML debut for the Reds
