Reds 13 Phillies 0
It was a season high in runs scored. Reds runs scored 2nd through 5th inning: 1- 3-1-3. Then added 5 more in the 8th.
Another team attack: 14 H, 7 BB. 8 players recorded a hit and 8 scored a run.
Record: 6-8.....won 6th a year ago on May 9 (6-23).
Break out: Wil Myers 4 H, 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI. He entered the game with one extra-base hit and 4 RBI.
Per Joel Luckhaupt: Myers is the first Red to have HRs off of multiple pitchers within the first 3 innings of a game since Joey Votto did it on 9/19/2008 vs the Brewers. And....Myers is the first Red to have extra-base hits off of 3 different pitchers within the first 5 innings of a game since George Foster did it on 4/25/1977 vs the Braves.
Position player alert: Josh Harrison (Princeton/UC) pitched the 8th inning. He allowed 6 hits, 1 BB and 5 R. I’ll continue to say it.
Position players pitching is dumb.
Progress: Jose Barrero walked for the fourth time this week. 2022: 9 BB in 174 PA……2023: 4 BB on 18 PA since Tuesday. He added a hit and a SB base.
Keeping On: Jonathan India 2 H, 2B, BB, RBI……the double was 107 mph off the bat. He exited the game one inning after fouling a ball of his foot.
Other; TJ Friedl 2-run 2B, R, Stuart Fairchild rocket 2B. Tyler Stephenson 2 BB.
Graham Ashcraft: 6 IN, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K, 89 pitches/51 strikes. ERA 1.42.
What on earth? Barrero booted a ball, picked it up, threw it past India on an attempted force out at 2B, 1B Myers tracked down the ball and threw out Edmundo Sosa attempting to get to 2B,
In the books: Nick Senzel picked up his first hit of the season and stole a base.
Single time: Jason Vosler collected his first single as a Red, after six extra base hits. He snapped an 0 for 15 skid with 2 hits.
Welcome, kid: Reliever Casey Legumina was called up from Louisville and made his ML debut, 2.0, 1 K, 1 BB. He was acquired for Kyle Farmer.
Bullpen: 3 IN, 0 R.
Rotation: Luke Weaver will be recalled to start Wednesday vs Tampa Bay.
Rehab: The Reds returned Joey Votto from a rehabilitation assignment. He will continue his rehab in Cincinnati. Rehab assignments for position players
can't last more than 20 days. Votto was approaching that time and isn’t ready. He made 10 rehab appearances with Louisville (7 for 38, .184, 2 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 6 BB, 21 K).
