Reds snap skid, beat Phillies 6-4

Comeback baseball: Down 4-3 with one out in the 9th, the Reds rallied with three runs to win it. Stuart Fairchild and Jonathan India walked and T.J. Friedl reached on an infield single. Jake Fraley then delivered a bases clearing broken bat double to give the Reds a 6-4 lead.

Reds snap three game skid and moved to 4-4 on the season. Won 4th game last year on May 7 (4-22).

Connor Overton: 4.0 IN, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K, HR. He gave up a single run in the 1st and 2nd innings. After the Reds tied the game 2-2, he served up a 2-run bomb to Alec Bohm in the 4th. ERA now 10.13.

Bullpen: 5 IN, 0 R. Fernando Cruz 2.0, 2 K….Kevin Herget 2.0, 0 R…..Ian Gibaut 1.0, 0 R, Save.

Tyler Stephenson’s RBI single extended his career high hit streak to eight games and got the Reds on the board in the 4th inning.

JV: With runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the 4th, Jason Vosler put a ball in play and his ground out scored Stephenson to tie the game 2-2, He roped an RBI double in the 8th inning to cut the Phils lead to 4-3. That’s six hits, all extra base hits. He leads the Reds with 9 RBI.

Wil Myers was thrown out stealing in the 2nd inning. Stuart Fairchild walked and stole 2nd in the 9th. The Reds are 2 for 6 this season. Opponents are 8 for 8 vs Reds.

Violator! Taijuan Walker attempted to pick off TJ Friedl three times at 1B. His third attempt failed, so Friedl was awarded 2B (balk).

Myers, 4 for 24 entering the game, singled and walked twice. He did strike out with the bases loaded in the 5th inning.

Independent contractors: As Chris Welsh referenced, the Reds used three pitchers Sunday that spent time in Independent ball….Overton, Cruz and Herget.
