Breweries within 50 miles of home: Hi-Wire
Located in Norwood, what a cool location and setup.
The taproom occupies two floors in the Amenity Building of the revamped playing card factory turned mixed-use development called Factory 52.
It's a 5,800-square-foot primary space with a 24-tap bar.
The campus will ultimately include a food hall, boutique retail shops, residences, a dog park, the Aces Pickleball complex, and a grand public courtyard.
We've been to the Asheville location and loved it. This one is much bigger and better. The 3,780-square-foot rooftop bar provides a killer view of the complex.
Full length windows wrap around the backside to provide natural lighting and a great view. Condos line one side of the complex.
Food will be available in the next couple of weeks. You can bring food in. We ordered from Angilo's Pizza about a block down and had it delivered.
Favorite beers: Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA, Cherry Red Hot Sour Ale, Koji Quad, Strongman Coffee Milk Stout
Notes: Our bartender, Mark F. was excellent. We sat at the bar and ate dinner. He explained the lay of the land and helped us with recommendations. We don't tend to order flights when a location is slammed, but he was very cool with it. The beer options are fantastic, but the flight cost of $14.50 is the highest we've seen in our 55 visits....most flights have been in the $8-12 range. Our individual beers were $6.75 (Strawberry Parfait) and $7.25 (Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA). I'd like to see TV's added on each side of the large Hi-Wire logo behind the bar. You have to turn around to the backside of the bar to see a TV/game.
There is a large, multi-level and free parking garage right next door.
It's a pretty sweet setup. When everything is up and running it might very well be the best brewery set-up/complex around here.
