My Random Thoughts: Sports, TV, music, food, life
Things that popped into my head this week.......
I'm convinced some people enjoy complaining more than they enjoy being happy.
Other than the fact Andrew Whitworth is 41, retired, the property of the Rams, has lost about 40 pounds and would need to switch to right tackle, I think a comeback with the Bengals is a fine idea.
Will the 2023 version of Jonathan India more like the 2021 or 2022 version? What if his Rookie of the Year is the outlier?
Our Off The Beaten Path topic returns next Friday in 8pm hour. Email me if you ever have an idea for a fun topic related to sports, lists, TV, movies, etc. Something you'd find fun to listen to and participate in: email@example.com.
It’s odd that some label Vonn Bell’s punching out a football on the 5-yard to save the game as “lucky.” Seemed like a hell of a football play.
My current number of magazine subscriptions: 0. Magazines I once subscribed to: Sports Illustrated, Sport, Inside Sports, Sporting News, Baseball Digest, Maxim.
If three concussions in 15 games doesn’t get Tua Tagovailoa sidelined for at least the rest of the season, exactly how many would?
MLB owners canceled a World Series in 1994 and couldn’t fix the economic issues in the game.
By the way, how about that Billy Price for BJ Hill trade?
Kelly and I are watching The Recruit on Netflix. Not bad. The Gray Man, with Ryan Gosling was pretty good. Kelly and Peyton are watching Wednesday…..
I joined in as a casual observer. Jenna Ortega is really good.
I'm a big fan of making panini sandwiches. I've recently discovered the sourdough bread from 16 Bricks. It's next level bread.
I attended the 1996 Rose Bowl/Northwestern vs USC, when Gary Barnett 'took the purple to Pasadena'. I was on the field in pregame for the USC marching band....and cheerleaders. What a stadium and scene.
Did you know, per Pro Football Focus, that Jessie Bates currently ranks 25th among safeties and Vonn Bell 53rd?
Have you seen any social media acknowledgement/best wishes to Mike Moustakas by the Reds or his teammates? Me neither.
I just can't take Mike Florio of NBC Football Night in America/Pro Football Talk seriously.
Would you rather listen to a podcast or watch a video podcast?
Isaiah Prince? Well then.
ESPN projects 60-102 for the Reds. I'd think closer to 70. They won't start 3-22. They won't be hurt as much. The pen should be better with Lucas Sims, TJ Antone and Tony Santillan. But, they will be without Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, Brandon Drury.
I look at QB situations in Las Vegas, Arizona, Washington, Indy, Denver and others and thank the heavens for Joe Burrow.
HLN airs The West Wing every day. The combo of writing by Aaron Sorkin and delivery of those lines by a stellar cast is the best of any TV drama I've watched.
MLB owners, including Bob Castellini, voted 30-0 to approve the economic structure of the game with the new five-year CBA signed in March.
Did you know four of UC's top five leading scorers this season are John Brannen recruits?
I wonder how much longer models like an 11pm local TV newscast will stand up?
We've lived in NKY for almost 25 years. Somehow, I finally visited Kremer's Market in Crescent Springs. Then I went back with Kelly this week. What an amazing and friendly place. It's like Cheers. Everyone knows your name.
Tip for 2023: Don't worry about things you don't care about.
College basketball games can all run together this time of year. I really enjoyed the XU-St. John's game with Sean Miller and Mike Anderson mic'd up.
I've been doing exactly what I've wanted to do, radio or TV, since I joined the Carmel High School radio staff in 1982. That's 40 years! How lucky am I?
My goodness, I can't wait until Monday Night: Bengals-Bills.
