Bengals: Thoughts from preseason Week 1

Some random thoughts/observations from preseason game No. 1: Cardinals 33 Cincinnati Bengals 23

These are not complete thoughts...just things jotted down.....my list dwindled the later the game got.

-11 penalties/104 yards...ugg. They faced 2nd & 30.

-Backup/young OL: Work to do

-Jackson Carman: I'm worried. Played all 1st half and showed nothing +. Hold decline early. Put on skates.

-Cordell Volson: Bet he gets more 1st team reps this coming week.

-FA OL Quinton Spain tweeted a photo of the Cincinnati skyline during the game. Fantastic.

-Dax Hill: Your eyes go to him. He got caught early for the TD...but he got up for a sweet pass break up that he almost picked off in the endzone. Dude has speed/athleticism.

-Jessie Bates watched the game from a suite at Paycor Stadium, wearing a Reds cap.

-Chris Evans: I say it every time I watch him: Give me more. Guy can run, catch, he's got a shimy to him. He had 60+ run wiped out by penalty and a TD run wiped out. Boxscore shows 8 carries/-3 yards...don't worry about it...he was dynamic. 41-yard KR. 41-yard KR.

-Thaddeus Moss: I've never understood the fascination.

-Jeff Gunter: The rookie is quick, athletic and has long arms. He batted down a pass, got a sack and corralled the QB on run.

-Zach Carter: Sack, back down, showed sped to get out on a screen for a stop. 4 tackles.

-Money Mac: 56 and 58 yard FG...seriously?

-Injuries: Cam Taylor Britt did not play with a core injury. Ouch. QB Brandon Allen left after one series with a concussion. TE Mitchell Wilcox left with an ankle injury.

-Joseph Ossai play a handful of snaps, that was it, as they get him back into the flow of things.

-How about Loveland HS QB Drew Plitt? 6-6-76, TD.

-Next: Pooka Williams muffed a punt. Take him out of the mix.

-Kevin Huber 47.7 and Drue Chrisman 46.0....each had a hold on the McPherson bombs.

-Kendric Pryor: The UDFA WR flashed, 4-89, TD.

-Trent Taylor just finds ways to have an impact. Nice 31 yard catch.
