Marlins 3 Reds 0

What are you gonna do? Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara was brilliant....a complete game shutout. 9 IN, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. 105 pitches/75 strikes.
ERA 1.88

Quick one: The game lasted 2 hours and 9 minutes.

About all you can really ask for: Mike Minor: 5.1 IN, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 6 K, HR. 82 pitches/54 strikes. He took a shutout to the 4th inning before Jesus Aguilar crushed a 403-foot solo homer to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead. Minor then made a two strike mistake to Garrett Cooper who lined it off the wall in left for a two-run double to make it 3-0 in the 5th.

Off the hook: The Reds loaded the bases vs the Marlins ace with one out in the 1st inning. But Donovan Solano grounded back to the mound for a force at the plate and then Aristides Aquino grounded back to the mound to end the threat. Jonathan India had singled, Mike Moustakas walked and Joey Votto reached on an infield single. It was a 22 pitch inning with two hits, a walk and a wild pitch...but no runs.

Another crack at him: The Reds put two on with one out in the 7th inning on singles by Solano and Aquino. But Albert Almora Jr. bounced into an inning ending double play.

Offense: 6 hits....2 by Votto.

Track meet: The Marlins spent the night running free on the bases, swiping four bases in the first five innings, with Luke Williams swing three. Reds catcher Michael Papierski did nab Michael Leblanc at 3rd base when he faked a throw to 2nd with Williams off and running.

Bullpen: 2.2 IN.....0 runs.......Joel Kuhnel 0.2 IN, Luis Cessa 1.0, Hunter Strickland 1.0.

Passing of the torch: Jose Barrero got the start at SS (0 for 3). Kyle Farmer will now get playing time at 3B.
