Jays 2 Reds 1

La Piedra: Castillo 6 IN, 7 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 94 pitches/67 strikes. He cruised into a scoreless bottom of the 5th inning before things escalated quickly and a double-single-double gave the Jays a 2-0 lead.

Handcuffed: Jays LHP Hyun Jin Ryu tossed six shutout innings.

Finally: Down 2-0 into the 7th, the Reds stirred w/ a Taylor Mottor single, Mike Moustakas HBP and RBI single by Matt Reynolds to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Stranded: The Reds hit doubles in the 2nd-3rd-4th-5th-6th innings, but stranded the runner each time.

JV OFF IL: Votto returned and ripped a double on a 1 for 4 night. The Jays used a four-man OF against him in the 8th inning.....and then moved the 3B behind 2B leaving the entire left side open. He flew out to left field.

Leading man: Reynolds hit leadoff and collected three hits to match a career high. He started at 2B and made is first ML appearance in CF in the 7th inning.

Double-double: Kyle Farmer had a two double night. That's seven hits in four games since his 4 for 50 skid and getting back-to-back days off.

More Glove: TJ Friedl saved a run, perhaps two, with a running catch and crash into the center field wall in the 4th inning.

E: New guy: Mottor, called up earlier in the day and starting at 3B, committed a fielding error that extended the 4th inning for Castillo.
