Reds 8 Pirates 2
As someone once said: "I looooooooooove winning." It sure beats losing. The Reds won again, beating the Pirates 8-2 Friday night at PNC.
That's 5 of 6 and 6 of 8.
Offense: 8 R, 10 H, 8 EXBH......5 2B, 3 HR.
The Reds trailed 1-0 after the first pitch of the game by Tyler Mahle, but the Reds responded. It was 2-2 in the 4th inning when the Reds added a run in the 4th, two more in the 5th and three in the 7th.
More efficient Tyler: Tyler Mahle 6 IN, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K, HR, 102 pitches. He served up a leadoff homer to Ben Gamel on his first pitch of the game, then locked things down. That's back-to-back quality starts by Reds pitching after having none in the first 31 games.
Moose: 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R.
Drury no mean: Brandon Drury broke out of an 0-14 with with a HR, 2B and 4 RBI.
Action Man: TJ Friedl H, 2B, 2 R, BB, SF, RBI and he stole a base for the third consecutive game.
Good move: Tyler Naquin is loving being dropped in the order by David Bell. He collected 3 more hits, with a 2B and 2 R.
The Rook: Another scoreless inning for Alexis Diaz. ERA to 0.55. Plus scoreless innings from Joel Kuhnel and Jared Solomon.
