Brewers 18 Reds 4

Ladies and gentlemen.......we really are witnessing the saddest of times in the once proud history of the Cincinnati Reds.

Sad, but true: The Reds are 3-21 and have lost 19 of their last 20 games. We are 24 games into the season and they'd already had an 11 game losing streak and are working on an eight game skid. That's also 12 straight losses on the road, most by a Reds team since losing 12 in 1945. They are now 13.5 games back of first place Milwaukee.

The game last 3 hours....and......46.....minutes.

What pitching? Five Reds pitchers and a position player combined to throw 211 pitches! They issued 9 walks and hit 2 batters....to go along with 17 hits, 18 runs, 3 homers. Things got so ridiculous that position player Matt Reynolds took the mound in the 8th inning to finish the inning (0.2 IN, 2 H).

Orange and Blue: FC Cincinnati beat Toronto FC Wednesday for win No. 4 of the season (4-5-1) to surpass the Reds win total.

A lead? The Reds actually led 2-0 after striking for two runs in a 28 pitch first inning for Brewers SP Freddy Peralta. Brandon Drury singled, Tommy Pham walked, Mike Moustakas drove in a run with a single to cap a nine pitch AB and Colin Moran drove in another with a sacrifice fly.

Hole digging: The Reds have been outscored 82-23 in the first four innings this season: Reds runs in first four inning 7-3-8-5...Opponents 20-11-23-28.

Oh, Vlad: Vladimir Gutierrez 4.1 IN, 8 H, 7 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR, 2 HBP, 2 E, 87 pitches/58 strikes....ERA 8.86. He pitched with a lead for the first time this season (Per Joel Luckhaupt) when the Reds scored two runs in the top of the first. He held the lead for 22 pitches. Kolten Wong lead off the bottom of the 1st inning with a 12 pitch AB that ended in a HR. He threw 30 pitches in the 1st inning, allowing two runs to tie the game with a HR, 1B, 2B, 1B and he committed a throwing error. Things rolled off the tracks in the 3rd inning when Rowdy Tellez crushed 453 foot grand slam at 111.6 mph off the bat....it was 6-2. He leads ML with 6 HBP this season.

Offense: 3 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, 11 strikeouts

Get Rowdy: Tellez clubbed a two-run homer of Dauri Moreta in the 6th inning to extend their lead to 9-3.
His night: Grand Slam... 453 feet, 111.6 mph......2-run HR... 431 feet, 107.2 mph. He added a 2-run 2B and wound up with 8 RBI....a new Brewers record.

Piling on: The Brewers tagged Buck Farmer for four runs in the 7th to make it 13-3 in a truly painful 41 pitch display of pitching to witness.

On the board: TJ Friedl collected his first hit of the season when he tripled. He'd been 0 for 11. He scored on a Drury sacrifice fly.

Moose getting loose: Moustakas had two hits, making it back-to-back multi-hit games.

Keep plowing: Kyle Farmer is now 0 for 21....I think. I've lost track. He had an 0 for 15 earlier in the season.
