Green dazzles, but Reds drop 5th straight

Make it five consecutive losses for the Reds following Saturday night's 5-2 defeat in LA. The Reds are now 2-7 for the season, the worst record in MLB.

The Reds offense managed just four hits, with 12 K and 2 BB. They are hitting .185 as a team. They have score 2-1-3-3 over the last four games and been outscored 34-14 during the losing streak.

Hunter Greene pitched well. He took a shutout to the bottom of the 6th before allowing a two-run homer to Trea Turner.

Greene: 5.1 IN, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, HR, 80 pitches/50 strikes. He has just 2 walks in two starts covering 10.1 innings.

Record breaking: Greene's 39 pitches at 100mph + set a ML record for a game since MLB started tracking pitch velocity officially in 2008. The record had been 33 by Jacob DeGrom. The average speed of his 57 fastballs was 100.2 mph.

Greene: 57 fastballs/13 swings and misses, 18 sliders, 5 changeups.

Trailing 5-2, the scored twice in the 9th on a Tyler Naquin RBI groundout and a Tommy Pham RBI single.

Tyler Stephenson had two of the Reds four hits. Aquino, Moustakas and Drury each struck out twice. 

Finally: Pham broke his 0 for 22 skid to start the season.

Joey Votto: 0 for 4 with 3 K. He's hitting .129.
