Reds drop fourth straight, 3-1

Dodgers 3 Reds 1

The beat goes on: Make it four straight losses and 6 of the last 7 as the Reds (2-6) fell to the Dodgers 3-1 Friday night.

O woes: The Reds managed just five hits on the night. Kyle Farmer collected two hits, including an RBI single in the 6th for the Reds lone run. The Reds are now hitting .191 with averages that include Pham .000, Aquino .100, Senzel .118, Fraley .136, Votto .148, Moustakas .160. The Reds have been outscored 26-12 during the four game skid. Sure looks like a lineup that misses bats like Castellanos, Winker and Suarez.

Bottom heavy: The last three spots in the order (Moose, Farmer, Garcia) were a combined 4 for 11. The rest of the lineup was 1 for 28.

Still searching: Tommy Pham went 0-4 in his return to the lineup from his collision with Nick Senzel earlier in the week. He crushed two balls, but got no results. He's 0 for 19.

Streaking: Moustakas has hit in three straight games.

Chances: The Reds left the bases loaded in the 3rd and stranded two more runners in the 6th. They were1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Vlad Gutierrez: 4 IN, 5 H, 3 R, 3BB, 3K, HBP, 78 pitches.. He was reached for single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th. He struck out the side in the 4th, but ran into issues to start the 5th with a 3B, HBP, SB, BB and was done.

Pen work: The foursome of Hoffman-Moreta-Diaz-Hendrix combined for 4 IN, 2 H, 0 R. Hoffman inheriting a bases loaded situation from Gutierrez in the 5th. He got the first two batters he faced, but then walked in a run to make it 3-0.

Dust up: Gutierrez hit Dodgers OF Mookie Betts with a 91-mph fastball in the 5th inning. Joey Votto was then hit in the helmet by a Tyler Anderson curveball leading off the next inning. Votto was peeved and had words for Anderson as he walked to first base. Players came to the dugout steps as benches nearly emptied.

Cannon fire: Aristides Aquino threw out his 2nd runner of the season at the plate.

Injury watch: David Bell told Tommy Thrall in the pregame that Jonathan India will miss a couple of days with his hamstring injury and continue to be evaluated. Nick Senzel missed his third consecutive game. Bell indicated he was sick on Thursday, feeling better Friday and available off the bench. He should be back in the lineup tonight.
