Scooter Gennett became the first Reds player to ever hit four home runs in a game, part of a career-high 5 for 5, 4 HR, 10 RBI night. 

The Reds beat the Cardinals 13-1 at GABP.

He received a standing ovation from the GABP crowd on his 3rd homer and then again when he batted in the 8th inning and then after the 4th homer.

Chants of "Scooter, Scooter!" broke out throughout GABP during the night. Fans pulled out phones to record his at-bat in the 8th inning in a surreal scene.

In tonight’s 13-1 win vs the Cardinals, LF Scooter Gennett became the first player in Major League history to produce in a game 5 hits,4 HR and 10 RBI.

He established club records for home runs(4) and total bases(17) and tied the club record for RBI(10,Walker Cooper, 7/6/1949 vs Cubs).

He became the17th player in Major League history to produce 4 homers in a game, the first since Tex’ Josh Hamilton on5/6/2012 at Bal and the first in the National League since LA’s Sean Green on5/23/2002 at Mil.

He became the sixth player in Major League history to homer in 4 consecutive plate apps in the same game (Lou Gehrig,Rocky Colavito, Mike Schmidt, Mike Cameron,Carlos Delgado last on 9/25/2003 for Tor vs TB).

Gennett homers:

3rd inning: Grand slam

4th inning: 2-run homer

6th inning: Solo homer

8th inning: 2-run homer

He also singled in a run in the 1st inning.
