9 days on tennis action all came down to one final match on Monday night. American Frances Tiafoe looked to win his first Masters 1000 title of his career. Standing in his way was the number 1 player in the world Italy's Jannick Sinner.
Both men had interesting paths to the final.
Sinner had to go through Alex Michelsen (USA), Jordan Thompson (AUS), Andrey Rublev (RUS), and Sascha Zverev (GER).
Tiafoe had to beat Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina (ESP), Lorenzo Musetti (ITA), Jiri Lahecka (CZE), Hubert Hurkacz (POL), and Holger Rune (DEN).
The final match of the 2024 Cincinnati Open started off very close going to a 1st set tiebreaker. Sinner would take the tiebreak and never look back as he would cruise through the second and survive a late rally attempt by Tiafoe to secure his first Rookwood trophy.
Jannik Sinner defeats Frances Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-2. Total match time 1 hour 37 minutes.
