A teenage boy was shot Friday afternoon (February 6) near Union Station in Washington, D.C., prompting a large police response and an ongoing investigation.
According to WTTG, officers responded around 4:15 p.m. to reports of gunshots at the intersection of North Capitol Street and Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast. When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound on Massachusetts Avenue. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital, where officials said he was conscious and breathing at the time.
While the police emphasized that the shooting did not occur inside Union Station, there was heavy police presence at the scene Friday afternoon. Authorities have not yet released a suspect description or further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The Daily Mail reported that one person was taken into custody at the scene. Officials have not said if the person is believed to be involved in the shooting.
