There Could Be 5 Sportsbooks in SW Ohio in the New Year.

Last Friday was the deadline to apply for a sports wagering license in Ohio and the Casino Control Commission says it has received four applications to put Sportsbooks in Hamilton County and one for Warren County.

Three of those betting parlors would go inside casinos or racinos that already exist.

Hard Rock downtown, Belterra Park and Miami Valley Gaming all want to offer betting in person. Those three have also applied for an online license to take bets through mobile devices.

The other applications came from the Reds and F C Cincinnati who want to open new sportsbooks near their stadiums.

F C Cincinnati is partnering with Superbook to open the facility while the Reds are teaming up with Bet MGM.

FCC is partnering with the same company for online wagering BUT the Reds are going with a newcomer to the industry for that. Their online site will be managed by UNDERDOG Sports which up until now has been doing fantasy sports.

The Bengals are only applying for online wagering run by BETFRED and won't have a brick and mortar location of their own.

Sports wagering is expected to start in Ohio on January first of next year.
