( Covington, Kentucky ) - Covington city leaders issued a CODE RED EMERGENCY on Saturday night after a tanker truck overturned, blocking the southbound lanes of I-75 and creating a fuel leak.
Everyone who lives within a half mile of the crash scene has been told to shelter in place. As of 8am Sunday morning, both directions of the bridge remained closed.
The crash happened just after 11pm. Police say that a fuel truck carrying at least 8,000 gallons crashed and landed broadside on the highway. At least 500 gallons of fuel leaked from the truck.
There's no word on any injuries or if any criminal charges will be filed.
It's unclear how long the bridge will remain closed.
