PG Sittenfeld Guilty

( Cincinnati ) - About 12 hours after they started deliberating, a federal jury returned guilty verdicts on two of the six counts against PG Sittenfeld.

The former Cincinnati City Councilman was convicted of bribery and attempted extortion. He was found not guilty of two other counts of bribery and attempted extortion and two counts of honest services wire fraud. Those wire fraud charges were the first two that were read in the courtroom, and Sittenfeld's supporters were happy to hear those, but then the room went silent when the first guilty verdict was read.

Sittenfeld defense attorney Charlie Rittgers says his client is "crushed." Rittgers wouldn't speculate whether any possible appeal will be filed.

Next up will be a sentencing hearing, likely before the end of the year.
