( Springdale ) - The mayor calls it "the biggest project in the history of our city." The next step in a billion dollar redevelopment of Tri-County Mall has been completed.
Texas-based developers MarketSpace Capital and Park Harbor Capital have closed on their purchase of the mall in Springdale to pave the way for a multi-phase redevelopment plan. The proposed mixed-use redevelopment is made up of five phases, and each needs to be approved by the Springdale planning commission. Approval of phase one--over 600,000 square feet of residential space, 172,000 square feet of retail and dining space, along with 784,000 square feet of green space--is expected in the coming months with construction slated to begin before the end of this year.
Redeveloping the 76 acre site is expected to take the next ten years, if all goes as planned.
