The Governors of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio all warning people to avoid travel later today if possible.
The Tristate is under a Winter Storm Warning with a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow expected all day today.
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Additional snow and
sleet accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up
to three tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of Southeast Indiana and Central and
Southwest Ohio.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
ice. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce
visibility. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills will likely fall below zero
degrees Friday night into Saturday morning.
Road crews are on 12 hour shifts across the Tristate to try and keep the streets clear BUT for much of the day today they say they expect to be fighting a losing battle.
