Mason City Council Votes to Criminalize Abortion

Mason City Council Monday night voted 4-3 to criminalize abortions within city limits with a "sanctuary city" ordinance. That will go into effect in 30 days.

Before that vote was taken, council took up a motion to allow voters to decide whether or not Mason should be a "sanctuary city for the unborn". That vote failed 4-4. Five Yes votes were needed to place it on the ballot.

Mason, which has no abortion clinics, now joins Lebanon in banning abortions with an ordinance in Ohio.
