( Cincinnati, OH ) - Just four days after Hamilton County Auditor Dusty Rhodes announced that he will not seek re-election, a Cincinnati area State Rep. has launched her campaign for the job.
Democrat Brigid Kelly, of Hyde Park, said in a statement that she's running for auditor to be a consumer watchdog for the people of Hamilton County.
Kelly, a three-term state House member, is seeking to replace the man who is stepping down after the 2022 election. Dusty Rhodes announced last week that he's calling it a career following a record eight four-year terms as County Auditor.
"I intend to serve out my term, to which the voters elected me, which ends in March, 2023 and give my full support and cooperation to whomever the voters select to fill this important, independent county office in the General Election next year."
Rhodes said last Friday that Brigid Kelly would make a great auditor. So far, no one else has announced that they are running for auditor.
