( Mt Auburn ) - Cincinnati Police say a woman and her baby are dead after being hit by a car Wednesday evening.
Just before 8:30pm, 31-year-old Anthony Cioffi allegedly lost control and drove off of Reading Road near McMillan, striking a telephone pole and a 20-year-old woman who was walking nearby.
Cioffi's car allegedly hit a building before coming to a stop. He and a passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Police say the woman who was struck was pregnant. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to UC Medical Center. During treatment, doctors delivered her baby, and both he and the woman died from their injuries.
Investigators believe both impairment and excessive speed were factors in the crash.
