Police: 'Occupants unable to escape' fiery tractor-trailer crash

( Cincinnati ) - At least two people are dead after two tractor-trailers crashed head-on Friday on I-75.

Emergency crews were called to I-75 near Hopple St around 3 o'clock on reports that two semi-trucks had crashed. Multiple calls into the 700WLW Newsroom reported fire at the scene. It shut down both directions of the highway for hours.

Around 9pm, Cincinnati Police posted a series of tweets outlining what they can release so far.

Investigators say a semi headed south lost control, crashed through the center barrier, and struck another semi headed north near the 3.8 mile marker.

The southbound semi caught fire, and police say "the occupants were unable to escape and died at the scene."

The driver of the northbound semi was treated by EMTs.

No names have been released.

As of 10pm, both directions of the highway remain closed between Hopple and I-74.
