One Dead in Independence 'Officer-Involved Shooting'

( Independence, Kentucky ) - Kentucky State Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot by police in northern Kentucky on Tuesday morning.

A statement from KSP says officers were called to a home on Ridgepoint Dr on reports of a burglary in progress. There, they allegedly found a man who "brandished a firearm at the officers." That man was shot by at least one responding officer, and he ultimately died of his injuries.

Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders, on with our own Bill Cunningham, says a neighbor saw someone climbing in to a garage and called 911. "There was a handgun recovered from the scene that did not belong to the police officers," Sanders says. He says there's also bodycam footage that will be reviewed.

No names have been released.

KSP says no officers and no members of the community were injured.
