In the everyday world, pole dancing and religion normally don’t mix. But Diane Martin doesn’t live in the everyday world. Martin calls herself the “pole dancing pastor,” and works as Assistant Pastor at Pikes Peak Metropolitan Community Church in Colorado.
It was 11 years ago when she started looking for a new form of fitness and fell in love with pole dancing. Though the stigma that’s comes with pole dancing led to her being shunned by some in the local religious community, she says, “God didn’t uncall (her) to the ministry when (she) discovered the pole.” Martin now works as a pole dancing instructor while she carries on her churchly duties.
