( Colerain Township, OH ) - An investigation is underway after an officer involved shooting early Monday morning in Colerain Township. Police say an officer shot a suspect multiple times following a chase from North College Hill to White Oak.
Officers were conducting a traffic stop around 1 a.m. when the driver decided to flee the scene. The police eventually called off the chase due to the wet road conditions but the driver of the car ended up crashing near Galbraith and Cheviot Roads a short time later.
When officers approached the car, that's when the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at them, prompting one officer to open fire. The suspect was taken to University Hospital. His name and current condition are unknown.
The police officer who fired the shots has been put on leave.
