New Details, More Questions in Elmwood Place Officer-Involved Shooting

( Elmwood Place ) - The Police Department in Elmwood Place has released the name of the officer who shot and killed a man Tuesday afternoon.

A report says 25-year-old Officer Nicholas Arn (pictured) stopped a green Dodge pickup truck at Highland Avenue and Linden Street Tuesday afternoon about 1:30pm. The report says there was "an exchange of gunfire" between the driver of that truck and Officer Arn. 48-Year-Old Rodney Barnes was later identified as that driver, and he was pronounced dead. The incident report mentions nothing about why Barnes was pulled over, what led to the shootout, or who fired first and why.

There is no video of the incident and anyone who saw it is asked to call the police.

Arn is now on suspension, as per police policy, while the shooting is investigated.
