For the first time since the pandemic hit back in March, the number of people admitted to TriState hospitals in a single day with the coronavirus has topped 200. As you can see in the attached chart, the total number of cases has been steadily rising all month long and has now reached a record level. The Health Collaborative is once again planning for extra capacity if more hospital beds are needed but there has been no talk yet of reopening the temporary hospital set up earlier this year at Duke Energy Center downtown. It was dismantled after it was not needed to deal with increased patients getting sick.
Right now local hospitals are at 89% capacity with their ICU units 85% filled.
