One Charged in Connection with the Police Shooting Death of Breonna Taylor

( Frankfort, Kentucky ) - A grand jury has indicted one of the officers in the Breonna Taylor case. Former Louisville Metro Police Detective Brett Hankison is charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree.

Police say Hankison left his position at the front door of Taylor's apartment and walked around to the front of her home. He allegedly opened fire through the window and patio door. The charges filed against Hankison relate more to gunfire that went into neighbors' homes than the bullets that killed Taylor. The other two officers who shot toward Taylor and her boyfriend were not charged.

Taylor died in the early morning hours of March 13, 2020. Police were there on a no-knock warrant to search her home for drugs and cash as part of a drug investigation into a former boyfriend.

The city of Louisville recently agreed to a 12-million-dollar settlement with Taylor's family.
