DeWine: K-12 Mask Order for School

( Columbus, Ohio ) - Previous guidance from Gov Mike DeWine had children in 3rd grade and up wearing a mask, but now the governor says he's extending that order to include all school-aged children: kindergarten through 12th grade.

It's in line with new recommendations from the Ohio Children's Hospital Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

DeWine says that gives the state the best chance "to keep Ohio's kids and educators safe and physically in school."

There are exceptions for children under 2-years-old and for children with physical or psychological issues where wearing a facial covering would make their conditions worse.

Also, Gov DeWine said the state is working with FEMA to distribute millions of masks to schools.
