The gun violence that has exploded in the city of Cincinnati since the start of the pandemic appears to be spreading to the suburbs. For the second time this week someone has been shot to death in Liberty Township and both cases while they don't appear to be related, have happened within 500 feet of each other.
The latest case happened late last night in Liberty Park off Yankee Road near the Lakota YMCA. The sheriff says three people were shot during a fight at the park and one of them was killed. The names and ages of the people injured have not been released and at this point no arrests have been made.
Sheriff Richard Jones says gun violence will not be tolerated in Butler County and he plans a news conference for later this morning to discuss the recent homicides. Police did make two arrests yesterday in connection with the murder of a trans woman Tuesday on Spruce Creek Drive. Police say the victim, 25-year-old Riah Milton was lured to Liberty Township by the suspects who wanted to steal their car.
